Rupert Grint
Rupert Grint, or like to be known as Rupey or Rupe or Weaselby by Princess Siti Grint, was born on Wednesday 24th August 1988. That makes him 17 years, 10 months and blah blah blah days and blah blah blah hours and blah blah blah seconds. He was plunged into the world of movies and fame and stardom when he was only 11 years old acting as the very famous Ron Weasley (yes, not only Harry Potter is famous, so is his best friend Ron). After his brilliant role as Ron in the first Harry Potter movie, Philosopher's Stone, he was casted as the permed-haired young scientist wannabe in Thunderpants. As he grew up, more girls have been queuing up to propose to him (okay, so maybe just me). After rave reviews of his brilliant acting in Goblet of Fire (some said that he almost stole the limelight from Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson), he acted as Ben in Driving Lessons and the movie has been chosen to play in Tribeca Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival. Right now, he's shooting the fifth Harry Potter installment. Though Ron is very dorky and sometimes not so brave and can be quite an idiot and has an emotional range of a teaspoon, the only similarities between Rupert and Ron are fear of spiders and big family. Rupert is unique. He rode the unicycle and played the Australian aborigines instrument thingy called didgeridoo. If he's not an actor, I bet he'll be good in Cirque de Soleil. Haha! But he's like any normal teenager; he loves to build model aeroplanes and play golf (heard he's really good at it).
Famous quote from Rupert: “Being famous is wicked. But it's better to be normal.” (PSG's Note: Good on ya, Rupe!)

Jake Gyllenhaal
You can say that Jake is one lucky chap. He's born on 19th December 1980 into a family of talented people; his father is Stephen Gyllenhaal (Director), his mother is Naomi Foner-Gyllenhaal (Screenwriter) and his sister is Maggie Gyllenhaal (Actress). His god-mother is Jamie-Lee Curtis and he was taught to drive by family friend, Paul Newman. He started as a child actor in City Slickers alongside Billy Crystal. Then he appeared in films such as Josh and S.A.M and Dangerous Woman. He then got his first starring role as Homer Hickman in the heart-warming story of an aspiring rocket scientist in October Sky (I cried my eyes out watching this movie). Later, he starred in other films opposite famous and well-respected actors like Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon (Moonlight Mile); Chris Cooper (Jarhead and October Sky); Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow); Jennifer Aniston (The Good Girl); Anthony Hopkins and Gwyneth Paltrow (Proof); Jamie Foxx (Jarhead). Currently, he has done filming Zodiac as a cartoonist, Robert Graysmith who searched for an infamous serial killer in San Francisco (think Jack the Ripper). He has won accolades for his role in cult movie, Donnie Darko and Oscar-nominated movie, Brokeback Mountain where he starred as a gay cowboy named Jack Twist. He loves to cook (and good at it too!) and read. He loves Harry Potter (like me) and has named his two dogs Atticus and Boo after his favourite book, To Kill A Mockingbird.
Famous quote from Jake: “First, it's ‘Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?', then it's ‘Get me Jake Gyllenhaal!', then ‘Get me someone who looks like Jake Gyllenhaal!', and then it's ‘Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?'. Right now, I'm between ‘Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?' and ‘Get me Jake Gyllenhaal!'.” (PSG's Note: Right now, I think it's ‘Get me Jake Gyllenhaal!'. No more in betweens!)

Paul Twohill
Paul is a 17-year-old Singapore Idol 2 contestant who has won many hearts of the young generation and also some girls with his emo-rock style and his wacky weird personality and some do like his weird wacky hairdo that is similar to Addams Family. Addams Family or not, he has the talent so much so that he's now through to the Top 12 of Singapore Idol 2. Before he stepped into the limelight, he was in Catholic High School where he was in a rock band named Ecnerret (Terrence spelled backwards) and has won Catholic High Music Awards 2004 in the rock band category. So far, in the competition, he has sang 3 Doors Down's Here Without You and made one female contestant cried and another male contestant to vote for him 3 to 4 times and not thought for one second to vote for himself. Even though he's wacky, loves to laugh at the peanut butter jar at his home and wants to rampage Toys R Us if the world ends tomorrow, his personal goal in life is quite a serious matter: “Make it big one day doing what I love.” And not just that, one of the things that will make him nervous is “when my voice is having a real bad day because I start to feel that I won't put up a show that is up to standard.” Another one thing to know about him: He has three Friendster accounts now cos two of his accounts has reached the maximum limit of 1000. That's how many friends and fans he has. And he has a fansite made for him by Arshanti at Paul Twohill Fansite.
Famous quote from Paul: “You smell pretty!” (PSG's Note: Aww, thank you Paul! I bet you smell pretty too, though you're somewhere in Singapore and I'm somewhere in Singapore too and we're both quite apart. Heheh!)

Gale Harold
You can say that Gale is my inspiration. Unlike most actors and actresses out there, he started acting late at the age of 28. He was born on July 10, 1969 in Georgia, US of A, which makes him a Cancerian like yours truly. Whoopie! Before he started acting, he was a carpenter and loves and restores Italian motorcycles. Wahey, I love motorcycles too! When he was younger, he acquired a diploma and under a soccer scholarship to begin a Liberal Arts Degree in Romance Literature at American University in Washington , D.C. However, because of some “creative differences” with his coach, he left the capital to study Fine Arts at San Francisco Arts Institute. However, that didn't last long too cos he squandered his academic scholarship and forced to make other plans. Oh Gale! Since he loves Italian motorcycles so much, that led him to several years of restoring and pants-set mechanics with Moto Guzzi motorbikes. So, you're probably wondering: “Man, when will this guy start acting?” Well, you don't have to wait for long cos in 1997, on the brink of financial exile from San Francisco , he was urged by his compatriot Suzy Landau, producer for Francis Ford Coppola (Dracula & Tucker) to take his act to the stage. After being introduced to actor and director Joan E. Scheckel, he re-located to Los Angeles , beginning an intensive 3-year period of dramatic study and exploration. This led him to his theatrical debut as Bunny in Me and My Friend. He also made his feature debut as Booker in 36K. Then he was accepted and completed the Actor's Conservatory Program with A Noise Within classical theatre company. There he appeared in productions like Misanthrope and Cymbeline. Then, he got his breakthrough role as the unapologetic and brutally honest gay Brian Kinney in Queer As Folk which made me love him. Currently, he's acting in Vanished alongside Ming Na as Agent Graham Kelton.
Famous Quote from Gale: “You have to like your character, because if you don't, no one else will either.” (PSG's Note: Wahey, that surely works cos no matter how bitchy Brian Kinney is, I still love that guy! Other than the fact that he has nice ass and very sexy! Hahaha!)

In love and in war... everything is fair...
Soulless and money-minded… that’s what a South African journalist said about us Singaporeans… this is what she said even though she spent only less than a week here and went about town… not HDBs, not cultural sites… but town… other journalists from New Zealand, India and UK said otherwise… homely, friendly and a melting pot are what is said from their viewpoints…
Well… in some way, I do agree that Singapore is boring… and that’s because I have been living and breathing in this country for a goddamn 20 years… on the other hand, if I were to compare Singapore with any other country in the world, I will goddamn say that I am goddamn lucky to be living and breathing in Singapore… kyu? (“why” in Hindi although I do not know the exact spelling… but never mind)… well, Singapore is a well-diverse country – multi-cultural, multi-religious and multi-racial… and yet, despite the differences in people, we still manage to live together harmoniously… even Pope John Paul II praised Singapore for the harmony between the people… and if we compare this to other country, what will happen is war… and like I said before, she went around town… she didn’t go to HDBs or cultural sites… Singapore is not about Orchard Road or Suntec City… there are other interesting places in Singapore that could tell tourists about the past and present of the country… Sentosa is not just a place for sun-tanning in the beach, it tells about the history of Singapore during the World War II… that was the place where Japanese soldiers killed the Chinese men… it wasn’t called Pulau Belakang Mati for nothing… there are others like Fort Canning Hill, Geylang (Malay), Chinatown (Chinese) and Little India (Indians)… there are estates around Singapore that also have little pieces of history of Singapore… well, I do agree that Singapore doesn’t have a lot of museums like Paris… but France and Singapore are two different countries… at the very least, you can spot France on the map easily… Singapore, on the other hand, is just a dot on the world map… and in the small land of 647 km square and with a population of 4.4 million people, it still could attract a lot of tourists from other countries because of its tropical weather, exotic food and shopping… you can’t find rambutans and durians in other countries except for our very-close neighbour, Malaysia… God, even Malaysians travel to Singapore to eat bone steak in Beach Road… it’s a modern 21st Century country, but still manage to keep the traditions and culture intact… how many other countries can have both worlds? Plus, we are unique… where else in the world do you find Singlish and Kiasus other than in Singapore? A few Singaporeans who walked down the streets of Orchard, especially those who are very well-dressed, can be a little unfriendly… but who are you to perceive that those people are unfriendly? They might have a bad day at the office and don’t feel like smiling… but in fact, they are very friendly and sociable people with so many friends… you wouldn’t know… and don’t assume one person who is unfriendly towards you mean that everyone in Singapore is unfriendly… God, she hasn’t met yours truly yet, I guess! She’ll be driven to her grave by my drama-queen antics! We, Singaporeans, are money-minded because we have to be… if not, how are we supposed to live in this high standard of living country? Everything around us we have to pay! That’s why we call PAP (Pay-and-pay)! There’s ERP, GST, COE, and lots of other payments that we have to pay to live in Singapore… anyway, there is no such thing as free lunch, you know!
In conclusion, I welcome the viewpoint of the South African journalist… well, it’s her own opinion of Singapore and who am I to stop her from speaking her mind? I believe that if everyone in the world is the same, ET and Jadu wouldn’t want to visit! But, I think, she needs to see Singapore outside Orchard Road and Suntec City… look at the software (people), not the hardware (tourist attractions)! Singapore is more than just meets the eye!
Did you watch World Idol on Wednesday? Gosh, I didn’t know that they had eleven judges! And I think that the judge from Poland is very, very cruel! I think most of them tried too hard to be Simon, who was one of the judges… come on… no one can be Simon… Simon is the original… and I think that Simon actually represented both US and Britain… since he’s the judge for both UK’s Pop Idol and American Idol… anyway… I don’t just think that it’s the battle of the eleven World Idol wannabes… I think it’s the battle of the judges… but I still think that Simon is the coolest of them all… he doesn’t try to be someone else… he doesn’t think of what the other judges said… he gives his own point of view… if the performance sucks, well, it sucks… and Guy Sebastian sure did a great performance!
Singapore Idol auditions, as you might know by now, stretched for three days! The reception for Singapore Idol, I have to admit, is unbelievable! They could even queue in the wee hours of the morning just to audition! And not just queue, they were practically drenched in the rain! And the funny thing is some didn’t even know that the judges are not the four judges… they are a panel of music experts and executive producers of the show! Haha… they got drenched for nothing! I have to admit, there are so many rounds to just reach the Top 30! The organizers said that all those who auditioned did really well… in my opinion, those who came to audition know that they have the singing talent… I guess nobody wants to be the next William Hung! But I still hope that the Bollywood-looking guy got into the Top 30! Hopefully he does well for the auditioning in front of the four judges! I guess, it’s love at first sight for me! Haha!
Talking about Bollywood, just so you know that Bollywood fever has not subsided inside of me as yet! Haha! I’ve watched Kal Ho Naa Ho three times and for all those three times that I watched the movie, I cried! I tried to control my tears when I watched it the second time, thinking that since I know the storyline somewhat I thought that I wouldn’t cry anymore… but that didn’t happen! When I watched it the third time, I also thought I wouldn’t cry anymore, but I did! Gosh, no matter how much I tried to suppress my emotions, tears will still roll down my cheek when I watched the movie! And, oh yeah, I’ve watched Koi Mil Gaya four times! Hehe! Can’t blame me! Just ask Hrithik Roshan why must he be so gorgeous-looking! And be sure to be prepared when you meet me and my handphone started to ring a song from either Koi Mil Gaya or Kal Ho Naa Ho! Haha! And I am thinking of buying another Bollywood VCD, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon… starred Kareena Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and of course, Hrithik Roshan… I first heard the song on TV and I thought the movie sounds great! I’m on a Bollywood fever! Help!
By the way, have you heard that Jennifer Lopez got married for the third time to her former lover, Marc Anthony, just four days after his divorce with Dayanara Torres? I thought Marc Anthony loved his wife so much. But I guess, his marriage didn’t work out even though they had two children together… and if what the wife said was true that Marc Anthony still loves Jennifer Lopez even during their marriage, then I guess Marc Anthony is like any jerk of a guy who betrays a woman! God, if he loves Jennifer Lopez, then why did he marry his now-ex-wife in the first place? It took Jennifer and Marc like, what, five years to actually realize that they wanted to get married to each other! Anyway, do you think the marriage will last? My hope is that let this marriage last as long as possible! I am so tired of hearing Jennifer Lopez getting hitched, then divorced, then hitched again until Jackie Chan actually said that this is nothing new! She’s like making this marriage thing seems like a game to her! Please, please let her take the wedding vows seriously this time! Please!
Former actor and US President Ronald Reagan passed away earlier this week ending an era in the entertainment industry as well as the politics… heard that his relationship with his wife is the best love story ever! I don’t know how he met his wife or anything, but I felt like wanting to read the book that his wife wrote, I Love You, Ronnie… it featured the love letters that the late President wrote to his wife… and heard that it’s probably the most romantic thing ever! I mean, I give a hand to them… they are the icons for Hollywood! They are possibly the only Hollywood married couple that last for more than half a century! Which other married Hollywood couple could you name that last that long? So, Rest In Peace to the late Ronald Reagan (1911 – 2004)!
So, till next entry! Siti, out!
P.S: My web browser is okay! Haha! I thought there would be more viruses infecting my computer! But I’m so lucky to update my virus scan at the right time! Phew! Everything is now a okay! And I got myself into the 8 to 10 am class for the very boring A World Issues – Singapore Perspective… and got into the sounds-interesting class, Managing Events Communications at 10 to 12 noon slot… and it took me three times to get to the classes… I actually panicked! Haha! Thank God I got into those classes… I don’t want to have an 8 to 10 and 3 to 5 kind of slots… it’s very tiring! So, thank God for that!
