About My Obsessions

Rupert Grint
Rupert Grint, or like to be known as Rupey or Rupe or Weaselby by Princess Siti Grint, was born on Wednesday 24th August 1988. That makes him 17 years, 10 months and blah blah blah days and blah blah blah hours and blah blah blah seconds. He was plunged into the world of movies and fame and stardom when he was only 11 years old acting as the very famous Ron Weasley (yes, not only Harry Potter is famous, so is his best friend Ron). After his brilliant role as Ron in the first Harry Potter movie, Philosopher's Stone, he was casted as the permed-haired young scientist wannabe in Thunderpants. As he grew up, more girls have been queuing up to propose to him (okay, so maybe just me). After rave reviews of his brilliant acting in Goblet of Fire (some said that he almost stole the limelight from Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson), he acted as Ben in Driving Lessons and the movie has been chosen to play in Tribeca Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival. Right now, he's shooting the fifth Harry Potter installment. Though Ron is very dorky and sometimes not so brave and can be quite an idiot and has an emotional range of a teaspoon, the only similarities between Rupert and Ron are fear of spiders and big family. Rupert is unique. He rode the unicycle and played the Australian aborigines instrument thingy called didgeridoo. If he's not an actor, I bet he'll be good in Cirque de Soleil. Haha! But he's like any normal teenager; he loves to build model aeroplanes and play golf (heard he's really good at it).
Famous quote from Rupert: “Being famous is wicked. But it's better to be normal.” (PSG's Note: Good on ya, Rupe!)

Jake Gyllenhaal
You can say that Jake is one lucky chap. He's born on 19th December 1980 into a family of talented people; his father is Stephen Gyllenhaal (Director), his mother is Naomi Foner-Gyllenhaal (Screenwriter) and his sister is Maggie Gyllenhaal (Actress). His god-mother is Jamie-Lee Curtis and he was taught to drive by family friend, Paul Newman. He started as a child actor in City Slickers alongside Billy Crystal. Then he appeared in films such as Josh and S.A.M and Dangerous Woman. He then got his first starring role as Homer Hickman in the heart-warming story of an aspiring rocket scientist in October Sky (I cried my eyes out watching this movie). Later, he starred in other films opposite famous and well-respected actors like Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon (Moonlight Mile); Chris Cooper (Jarhead and October Sky); Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow); Jennifer Aniston (The Good Girl); Anthony Hopkins and Gwyneth Paltrow (Proof); Jamie Foxx (Jarhead). Currently, he has done filming Zodiac as a cartoonist, Robert Graysmith who searched for an infamous serial killer in San Francisco (think Jack the Ripper). He has won accolades for his role in cult movie, Donnie Darko and Oscar-nominated movie, Brokeback Mountain where he starred as a gay cowboy named Jack Twist. He loves to cook (and good at it too!) and read. He loves Harry Potter (like me) and has named his two dogs Atticus and Boo after his favourite book, To Kill A Mockingbird.
Famous quote from Jake: “First, it's ‘Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?', then it's ‘Get me Jake Gyllenhaal!', then ‘Get me someone who looks like Jake Gyllenhaal!', and then it's ‘Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?'. Right now, I'm between ‘Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?' and ‘Get me Jake Gyllenhaal!'.” (PSG's Note: Right now, I think it's ‘Get me Jake Gyllenhaal!'. No more in betweens!)

Paul Twohill
Paul is a 17-year-old Singapore Idol 2 contestant who has won many hearts of the young generation and also some girls with his emo-rock style and his wacky weird personality and some do like his weird wacky hairdo that is similar to Addams Family. Addams Family or not, he has the talent so much so that he's now through to the Top 12 of Singapore Idol 2. Before he stepped into the limelight, he was in Catholic High School where he was in a rock band named Ecnerret (Terrence spelled backwards) and has won Catholic High Music Awards 2004 in the rock band category. So far, in the competition, he has sang 3 Doors Down's Here Without You and made one female contestant cried and another male contestant to vote for him 3 to 4 times and not thought for one second to vote for himself. Even though he's wacky, loves to laugh at the peanut butter jar at his home and wants to rampage Toys R Us if the world ends tomorrow, his personal goal in life is quite a serious matter: “Make it big one day doing what I love.” And not just that, one of the things that will make him nervous is “when my voice is having a real bad day because I start to feel that I won't put up a show that is up to standard.” Another one thing to know about him: He has three Friendster accounts now cos two of his accounts has reached the maximum limit of 1000. That's how many friends and fans he has. And he has a fansite made for him by Arshanti at Paul Twohill Fansite.
Famous quote from Paul: “You smell pretty!” (PSG's Note: Aww, thank you Paul! I bet you smell pretty too, though you're somewhere in Singapore and I'm somewhere in Singapore too and we're both quite apart. Heheh!)

Gale Harold
You can say that Gale is my inspiration. Unlike most actors and actresses out there, he started acting late at the age of 28. He was born on July 10, 1969 in Georgia, US of A, which makes him a Cancerian like yours truly. Whoopie! Before he started acting, he was a carpenter and loves and restores Italian motorcycles. Wahey, I love motorcycles too! When he was younger, he acquired a diploma and under a soccer scholarship to begin a Liberal Arts Degree in Romance Literature at American University in Washington , D.C. However, because of some “creative differences” with his coach, he left the capital to study Fine Arts at San Francisco Arts Institute. However, that didn't last long too cos he squandered his academic scholarship and forced to make other plans. Oh Gale! Since he loves Italian motorcycles so much, that led him to several years of restoring and pants-set mechanics with Moto Guzzi motorbikes. So, you're probably wondering: “Man, when will this guy start acting?” Well, you don't have to wait for long cos in 1997, on the brink of financial exile from San Francisco , he was urged by his compatriot Suzy Landau, producer for Francis Ford Coppola (Dracula & Tucker) to take his act to the stage. After being introduced to actor and director Joan E. Scheckel, he re-located to Los Angeles , beginning an intensive 3-year period of dramatic study and exploration. This led him to his theatrical debut as Bunny in Me and My Friend. He also made his feature debut as Booker in 36K. Then he was accepted and completed the Actor's Conservatory Program with A Noise Within classical theatre company. There he appeared in productions like Misanthrope and Cymbeline. Then, he got his breakthrough role as the unapologetic and brutally honest gay Brian Kinney in Queer As Folk which made me love him. Currently, he's acting in Vanished alongside Ming Na as Agent Graham Kelton.
Famous Quote from Gale: “You have to like your character, because if you don't, no one else will either.” (PSG's Note: Wahey, that surely works cos no matter how bitchy Brian Kinney is, I still love that guy! Other than the fact that he has nice ass and very sexy! Hahaha!)

My two cents’ worth…

Ever notice how it’s a penny for your thoughts, yet you put in your two cents? Someone is making a penny on the deal!

So you sailed away / Into a grey sky morning / Now I’m here to stay / Love can be so boring / Nothing’s quite the same now / I just say your name now

But it’s not so bad / You’re the only best I’ve ever had / You don’t want me back / You’re just the best I’ve ever had

So you stole my world / Now I’m just a phony / Remembering the girl / Leaves me down and lonely / Send it in a letter / Make yourself feel better

And it may take some time to / Patch me up inside / But I can’t take it so I / Run away and hide / And I may find in time that / You were always right / You’re always right

So you sailed away / Into a grey sky morning / Now I’m here to stay / Love can be so boring / What was it you wanted / Could it be I’m haunted

But it’s not so bad / You’re the only best I’ve ever had / I don’t want you back / You’re just the best I ever had / The best I ever had / The best I ever

That’s what I’m feeling currently… I don’t know if you notice… but I haven’t been talking about Vincent for a very long time, I think… there are two reasons to that… one – I’ve not been communicating with him for a long period… two – I’ve moved on, meaning that I’ve forgotten about my feelings for him, knowing that him and me can never be together… all that is left is the memories of the times that I’ve been loving him albeit silently… but I don’t regret those times… because it has been great… it’s probably one of the best… I don’t think I’ve wasted anything… it might sound naïve, but that’s how I am and how I feel… him and me are just fated to be friends and I will leave it at that… that’s what the song above called Best I’ve Ever Had means to me…

Talking about friendships, I’ve been wondering why some people say that it is impossible for a guy and a girl to have a platonic relationship… for me, I think that it is possible for a guy and a girl to have a platonic relationship because everything is possible… this is the 21st century where you can have the opposite sex as your best friend and nothing more, just a friendly relationship… it’s not like in the past where when a guy and a girl are together, it means that they are in BGR…

Sorry if I am being very blunt, but I have another question roaming in my head – what is so wrong about being a virgin and what is so right about losing your virginity before marriage? I am not referring to anyone in particular because for me, it’s other people’s choice to do what they want in their life and it has nothing to do with me… but I pose this question after my cousin said that 98% of her relationship doesn’t work and she doesn’t know why and my answer was very straightforward… I said that 98% of your boyfriends don’t love you… and she remarked that I would be a better person if I am not a virgin… I don’t take it to heart but that question just seems to be on my mind… what is so cool about losing your virginity to a guy who doesn’t love you? I don’t think that losing your virginity just like that is cool and I’m not even adding religion to this topic… by the way, her relationships were mostly sex-based that’s why I wonder about this… what is so cool about this? Is it because half of the teenage to 20-something population are doing it? If that’s the reason, then I pose another question – does it mean that everybody is doing it, you have to do it as well? If that’s the case, then if everybody decides to jump down from the tallest building in the world, then you might as well do it… I accept other views from you pals…

Okay, now the non-heavy stuff… phew… something about my life… well, yesterday I went to town to watch Shrek 2 with my bestest friend… and boy oh boy, I didn’t know that it would be one of the most exciting thing in my life… firstly, I saw a HOTT blonde guy in sleeveless shirt… and I really mean HOTT!!! And the other ironic thing about him is he looked like the guy in my dream I had the night before… how freaky can that be? Secondly, I saw another cutie pie… this time he looks like a typical Bollywood actor… plus, he has a great body albeit he’s shorter than me… haha… thirdly, I got interviewed by Channel News Asia reporter, Ken Teh… No, I’m not joking… I was interviewed by him… he asked me about American Idol 3 results and the Singapore Idol judges… first he asked me whether the votes are swayed against Diana Degarmo… and my answer was no, because Diana’s performance that day was quite a flop… when asked who do I think are the Singapore Idol judges… my answer was Najip and Kumar but I don’t think they will be in because I read The New Paper… and the reporter asked me what did The New Paper say… I said that it’s because Najip and Kumar are busy for the sixth-month schedule… it seemed long, right? But my moment on TV on News 5 Tonight and Channel News Asia’s Singapore Tonight was a very short one, less than a minute… they showed the part when I said, “Diana’s performance that day was quite a flop!”… in my mind, I was thinking that those Diana’s fans out there are probably going to kill me… haha… but I have this one problem, my face on TV was chubby! Aaarggghhh! I looked chubby! My bestest friend said that my cheeks look like I have eggs on each one of them! Now I know why Mark Zee looked big on TV but in actual life he’s quite lean… Aaarrrggghhh! And my voice was deeper than my usual voice… Aaaarrrggghhh! And the fact that the cameraman is shorter than me, the position of the camera makes me look not just tall but fat… Aaaarrrggghhh! It was a disaster! Haha! But I felt great! Who wouldn’t? I was on TV! And it’s not my first time! This is my second time! Haha… I can be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky! Haha! Fourthly, one of the cutest lecturers in my school, Mr. Robinson is *drum rolls* SINGLE AND VERY AVAILABLE!!! Calling all single people out there! Haha! My bestest friend and I saw him in Cineleisure ALONE!!! I can honestly tell you that you can’t tell that he’s a lecturer by what he wears because what he wears in school and outside was a total different thing altogether… lastly, my bestest friend and I had fun having our very own “Nominees for the contestants of Singapore Idol” in the MRT… we had fun making jokes about what we think the people we handpicked would sing in Singapore Idol… haha!

Now, before I end my diary entry for this week, let’s welcome the critic Siti in the house! *cheers*

American Idol 3 has certainly ended with a great note… Fantasia has deservedly won the title as American Idol… She definitely showed during her performance on the finale that she doesn’t need a competition to be a star… she is already a star… even though she flopped on the first song, All My Life, reason being that the musical background was so disastrous that she’s like screaming and shouting on stage instead of singing, but she definitely came back with a high-flying kick when she sang Summertime and Tamyra Gray’s I Believe, which made the judges gave her a standing ovation… But, I will not write off Diana as yet… for a 16-year-old, she’s definitely great! Too bad for her that her competitor is Fantasia and not Jasmine! And too bad that she flopped on Don’t Cry Out Loud when something horribly happen in the middle when she hit a flat note, something that shouldn’t have happened because Clive Davis had commented that she did great on that song before! She shouldn’t make a mistake for that song but she was just unlucky that she stepped on the “dead spot” of the stage where the singers can’t hear themselves… So, congrats Fantasia and I’m waiting for her first single I Believe to come out… it will definitely hit the top of the charts! And hopefully, she will have other hits along the way… Other than Fantasia, I think other contestants have a chance to get a record deal even though they got voted off early… first of all would be Diana… she’s 16, has great personality, talented and ambitious… she’s got a long way to go but I think she can be as popular as last year’s runner-up, Clay Aiken because of her large fan base… so don’t doubt her as yet… she may come up tops… next is definitely Latoya London who I think should be the one in the finale instead of Diana… she is talented and should cut an album soon… another contestant whom I think could also get a record deal would be the other diva, Jennifer Hudson… looks and body aside, she can definitely sing! Her most memorable performance that really showed that she should be a singer and not a nurse would be the one when she sang I Have Nothing If I Don’t Have You by Whitney Houston! If there’s any producer out there who wants another Michael Buble, they can find him in John Stevens! He has quite a large group of followers himself… so don’t write him off yet because he’s still 16 and you might not know what will happen in the future! The one that should never ever come out as a recording artiste would be Jasmine Trias! She has the looks but too bad her singing is as good as William Hung but a little bit better… I don’t doubt that if she does come out an album, guys and Hawaiians would buy it! But it would last as long as Britney Spears’ Las Vegas marriage with her best friend!

The Must-Watch TV Shows:

IIFA Awards: Singapore 2004: Stars were raining down in Singapore recently when the Bollywood stars like my favourite hottie, Hrithik Roshan, King Shah Rukh Khan, beautiful Preity Zinta and legendary Amitabh Bachan came down to town… if you were not there at the Indoor Stadium when they were here, catch them on Channel 5 on Sunday at 4.00 p.m. You cannot miss this show if you are a Bollywood fan like me…

Friends: Never miss this final season of Friends for anything! Even though the script was a little bit weak, but their acting more than makes up for it… My favourite is still the very hilarious Ross… so don’t miss this show on Monday at 10.00 p.m. on Channel 5…

The Mummy Returns: This blockbuster is premiering on Channel i at 9.00 p.m. on Monday… The movie, even though I have watched it like thousand of times already, I still love it because of the funny antics of John Hanna’s and Brendan Frasier’s characters… funny dialogues will make up for the quite scary-looking and –sounding mummies…

The Wedding Planner: If you haven’t watch this movie like yours truly, then make some time to watch this movie… I don’t know how good the movie is… but who cares when there’s a cute actor in it that makes you think that J. Lo is one lucky gal… what I know about this movie is it’s the typical romantic comedy movie that makes you go “Aaww”… so don’t miss it on Tuesday at 10.00 p.m.

News 5 Tonight: If you don’t watch and don’t like to watch the news, you better start now because this coming Monday at 9.30 p.m., Singapore Idol judges would be revealed… will the crowd favourites Najip, Kumar, Anita Sarawak or Glenn Ong be on the hot seats or will it be a shocker because I heard that the producers don’t want the judges to be like their American Idol counterparts… we just have to wait and see…

The Must-Watch Movies:

Shrek 2: Okay, so it’s a kiddy movie… so what? It’s still hilarious! There are so many parts where you just love the lines being thrown in… it’s so funny! Take note of the little things in the movie… Hollywood has been changed to Far Far Away… Versace has been changed to Versacenger or something like that… they also have Starbucks! Pinnochio wore a thong! The three blind mice and the wolf… but not forgetting the main characters like Shrek, Princess Fiona and the donkey, and the new addition to the family, Puss-in-Boots, which seemed to be the favourite character of some… my favourite though is the donkey, voice-over done by Eddie Murphy… he’s so wacky! So, catch it!

The Day After Tomorrow: I haven’t watch it and I don’t think I will watch it but by watching the trailers, I know you will have a hell of a time watching New York and Tokyo getting destroyed by Mother Nature… you name it – tornadoes, tsunamis, snow-storms and what-not… and even if you don’t feel like watching it, you might want to if you are into the hottie who managed to look 16 in the movie, Jake Gyllenhaal… and the director sure knows how to take a stab at the US government for never listening to others until something bad happens and they realized it’s too late… so I give it a thumbs-up…

The Must-Buy CDs:

Vintage Rock: Even if you are not into rock songs, you might want to buy this CD because of the familiar songs that you might grow up with… it’s filled with 30 classics from 3 decades… you won’t get bored by the songs! It’s worth your 20 bucks plus you can enjoy it with your parents… But don’t expect the songs to be head-banging… it’s more into slow rock than metal rock… And these are the songs that are currently my favourites as I repeatedly play them and I couldn’t even choose one song that I don’t like…

- Carrie by Europe: sad love song

- When The Children Cry by White Lion: peace rocks!

- Love of a Lifetime by Firehouse: definitely a classic love song

- Cat’s In The Cradle by Ugly Kid Joe: this song rocks!

- Still Got The Blues by Gary Moore: heartbreaking song

- When I See You Smile by Bad English: if a guy wants to win my heart, he can sing this song and he will be on the top of the list of my favourite guys

- Open Arms by Journey: also a cover done by Mariah Carey but this one’s a little more classic

- I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) by Meat Loaf: everybody should know this song, if you don’t, where were you? Mars?

- Always Somewhere by Scorpions: Scorpions rocks as ever

- Wild World by Mr. Big: the first time I heard this song, I cried!

- Owner of a Lonely Heart by Yes: a Latin feel that makes you wanna dance even though it’s rock

- Love Is On The Way by Saigon Kick: another heartbreaking song that tugs your heart

- Alone by Heart: another song that makes you wanna cry

- More Than Words Can Say by Alias: great classic

- Changes by Black Sabbath: also a cover done by Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne

- I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner: I want to call this my song because I also want to know what love is

So I give a thumbs-up to this album!

American Idol 3: Haven’t got enough of American Idol 3? Or aspiring to be on Singapore Idol and need some practice? Well, this CD is for you! I don’t intend to buy this CD but I would consider as I’m hooked to Fantasia’s Chain of Fools! If you listen to this album and I’ve heard snippets of the songs in HMV, you will find that Fantasia deserved the title as her voice stands out from the rest… Latoya’s If You Don’t Know Me By Now is also not bad and made you think that if Fantasia’s not in the competition, she might just win it! George Huff and John Stevens are not bad themselves…

Ultimate Barry Manilow: Okay, if you are into classics from Barry Manilow like Can’t Smile Without You and Mandy, then you might like this album! Your parents can also enjoy them with you! It’s a classic that you must have… by the way, Barry Manilow does look like Clay Aiken… wow… how freaky can that be?

That’s all for this week… Siti, out!

P.S: I got offered as a Sales Manager in Concourse where my mom works! How funny can that be? Until the manager found out that I haven’t finished my diploma yet! Haha! It’s kind of unlucky but hey, it’s a good thing! I haven’t finish my studies and already got offered so that’s a good news! Another good news… I PASSED MY EXAM!!! Woohoo! I don’t expect to get a C for IEF but I did! Now I don’t have to worry so much anymore!
