Rupert Grint
Rupert Grint, or like to be known as Rupey or Rupe or Weaselby by Princess Siti Grint, was born on Wednesday 24th August 1988. That makes him 17 years, 10 months and blah blah blah days and blah blah blah hours and blah blah blah seconds. He was plunged into the world of movies and fame and stardom when he was only 11 years old acting as the very famous Ron Weasley (yes, not only Harry Potter is famous, so is his best friend Ron). After his brilliant role as Ron in the first Harry Potter movie, Philosopher's Stone, he was casted as the permed-haired young scientist wannabe in Thunderpants. As he grew up, more girls have been queuing up to propose to him (okay, so maybe just me). After rave reviews of his brilliant acting in Goblet of Fire (some said that he almost stole the limelight from Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson), he acted as Ben in Driving Lessons and the movie has been chosen to play in Tribeca Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival. Right now, he's shooting the fifth Harry Potter installment. Though Ron is very dorky and sometimes not so brave and can be quite an idiot and has an emotional range of a teaspoon, the only similarities between Rupert and Ron are fear of spiders and big family. Rupert is unique. He rode the unicycle and played the Australian aborigines instrument thingy called didgeridoo. If he's not an actor, I bet he'll be good in Cirque de Soleil. Haha! But he's like any normal teenager; he loves to build model aeroplanes and play golf (heard he's really good at it).
Famous quote from Rupert: “Being famous is wicked. But it's better to be normal.” (PSG's Note: Good on ya, Rupe!)

Jake Gyllenhaal
You can say that Jake is one lucky chap. He's born on 19th December 1980 into a family of talented people; his father is Stephen Gyllenhaal (Director), his mother is Naomi Foner-Gyllenhaal (Screenwriter) and his sister is Maggie Gyllenhaal (Actress). His god-mother is Jamie-Lee Curtis and he was taught to drive by family friend, Paul Newman. He started as a child actor in City Slickers alongside Billy Crystal. Then he appeared in films such as Josh and S.A.M and Dangerous Woman. He then got his first starring role as Homer Hickman in the heart-warming story of an aspiring rocket scientist in October Sky (I cried my eyes out watching this movie). Later, he starred in other films opposite famous and well-respected actors like Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon (Moonlight Mile); Chris Cooper (Jarhead and October Sky); Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow); Jennifer Aniston (The Good Girl); Anthony Hopkins and Gwyneth Paltrow (Proof); Jamie Foxx (Jarhead). Currently, he has done filming Zodiac as a cartoonist, Robert Graysmith who searched for an infamous serial killer in San Francisco (think Jack the Ripper). He has won accolades for his role in cult movie, Donnie Darko and Oscar-nominated movie, Brokeback Mountain where he starred as a gay cowboy named Jack Twist. He loves to cook (and good at it too!) and read. He loves Harry Potter (like me) and has named his two dogs Atticus and Boo after his favourite book, To Kill A Mockingbird.
Famous quote from Jake: “First, it's ‘Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?', then it's ‘Get me Jake Gyllenhaal!', then ‘Get me someone who looks like Jake Gyllenhaal!', and then it's ‘Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?'. Right now, I'm between ‘Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?' and ‘Get me Jake Gyllenhaal!'.” (PSG's Note: Right now, I think it's ‘Get me Jake Gyllenhaal!'. No more in betweens!)

Paul Twohill
Paul is a 17-year-old Singapore Idol 2 contestant who has won many hearts of the young generation and also some girls with his emo-rock style and his wacky weird personality and some do like his weird wacky hairdo that is similar to Addams Family. Addams Family or not, he has the talent so much so that he's now through to the Top 12 of Singapore Idol 2. Before he stepped into the limelight, he was in Catholic High School where he was in a rock band named Ecnerret (Terrence spelled backwards) and has won Catholic High Music Awards 2004 in the rock band category. So far, in the competition, he has sang 3 Doors Down's Here Without You and made one female contestant cried and another male contestant to vote for him 3 to 4 times and not thought for one second to vote for himself. Even though he's wacky, loves to laugh at the peanut butter jar at his home and wants to rampage Toys R Us if the world ends tomorrow, his personal goal in life is quite a serious matter: “Make it big one day doing what I love.” And not just that, one of the things that will make him nervous is “when my voice is having a real bad day because I start to feel that I won't put up a show that is up to standard.” Another one thing to know about him: He has three Friendster accounts now cos two of his accounts has reached the maximum limit of 1000. That's how many friends and fans he has. And he has a fansite made for him by Arshanti at Paul Twohill Fansite.
Famous quote from Paul: “You smell pretty!” (PSG's Note: Aww, thank you Paul! I bet you smell pretty too, though you're somewhere in Singapore and I'm somewhere in Singapore too and we're both quite apart. Heheh!)

Gale Harold
You can say that Gale is my inspiration. Unlike most actors and actresses out there, he started acting late at the age of 28. He was born on July 10, 1969 in Georgia, US of A, which makes him a Cancerian like yours truly. Whoopie! Before he started acting, he was a carpenter and loves and restores Italian motorcycles. Wahey, I love motorcycles too! When he was younger, he acquired a diploma and under a soccer scholarship to begin a Liberal Arts Degree in Romance Literature at American University in Washington , D.C. However, because of some “creative differences” with his coach, he left the capital to study Fine Arts at San Francisco Arts Institute. However, that didn't last long too cos he squandered his academic scholarship and forced to make other plans. Oh Gale! Since he loves Italian motorcycles so much, that led him to several years of restoring and pants-set mechanics with Moto Guzzi motorbikes. So, you're probably wondering: “Man, when will this guy start acting?” Well, you don't have to wait for long cos in 1997, on the brink of financial exile from San Francisco , he was urged by his compatriot Suzy Landau, producer for Francis Ford Coppola (Dracula & Tucker) to take his act to the stage. After being introduced to actor and director Joan E. Scheckel, he re-located to Los Angeles , beginning an intensive 3-year period of dramatic study and exploration. This led him to his theatrical debut as Bunny in Me and My Friend. He also made his feature debut as Booker in 36K. Then he was accepted and completed the Actor's Conservatory Program with A Noise Within classical theatre company. There he appeared in productions like Misanthrope and Cymbeline. Then, he got his breakthrough role as the unapologetic and brutally honest gay Brian Kinney in Queer As Folk which made me love him. Currently, he's acting in Vanished alongside Ming Na as Agent Graham Kelton.
Famous Quote from Gale: “You have to like your character, because if you don't, no one else will either.” (PSG's Note: Wahey, that surely works cos no matter how bitchy Brian Kinney is, I still love that guy! Other than the fact that he has nice ass and very sexy! Hahaha!)

What a wonderful world…
I see skies of blue
And clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yeah… it’s a wonderful world out there… but amidst all the beauty and wonders… there is the ugliness of humans… the ugliest a human can be… as disgusting as humans can be… as cruel as humans can be…
I am not a perfect person
As many things I wish I didn’t do
Yeah… I am not a perfect person myself… I make mistakes… but my mistakes seemed minor compared to what those heartless human beings have done… I started to think to myself… Are these people humans? Do they have a single feeling in them? Do they have a heart? Don’t they know that those people that they bring hell to are humans like them? Why do they commit to doing what they did? Aren’t they humans at all?
Some of you might be wondering by now what am I talking about or referring to… well, you see, I’ve been watching movies that are shown on TV about Nazis and the Holocaust, I’ve been reading news about abused children and abused maids, I’ve been reading a novel that shows an abuse of power by the people who are the ones who should bring safety and peace in the world, the policemen…
Are these people humans at all? What goes through their minds when they hurt others? What is the feeling like when they do all these heartless, inhumane things they did? It couldn’t be joy, could it?
Channel i showed a movie called “The Last Days” last week, and two weeks ago, the channel showed another Holocaust movie starring Kirsten Dunst, I don’t recall what it is called though. When I watched both the movies, I couldn’t help but cry. Even though it is all in the past, it’s over now, but I couldn’t help but to feel sad for those who have survived the worst ordeal… In the movie with Kirsten Dunst, it tells us how a girl went through what her auntie had gone through during the Nazis time… it showed how her auntie’s cousin had sacrificed her own life to save her… what showed was probably the cruelest thing ever… the Nazi had killed about a hundred over people already, but the “big boss” was not satisfied, so the officer chose those people who were sick to be killed… her auntie was sick and coughing non-stop… she was also not wearing a scarf over her head… the scarf somehow symbolizes she would be safe… so her cousin actually took the rap for her… she took of her own scarf, put it over her auntie’s head, told her to stop coughing… and when a Nazi soldier walked past them, she pretended to be coughing… so the soldier pulled her away… leaving her auntie crying… her cousin and others who were ‘chosen’, were brought to a chamber… outside the chamber, they were stripped naked… after that, they were brought into the chamber… what happened next was probably in our history books… the chamber is the gas chamber… yes, the soldiers put in carbon dioxide or was it carbon monoxide? Either one… they died…
In the movie “The Last Days”, 5 survivors and others told the story of what happened in the camp during the last few days of the Nazis… even though the Nazis knew they are losing the war against Americans, they were still stubborn and would not lose the war against Jews… it was probably the saddest and scariest stories of what happened even though I did watch a movie on Holocaust before when I was in Secondary 2 during History class with Mr. Andrew… they told the story of how children were killed by tearing them apart by the legs, throwing them onto a truck, how people were killed in the gas chamber, how people were shot to death, how one survivor had to swallow the diamonds that she brought along so as to keep them from being taken away, how their family members were ‘wiped out’ totally, how another survivor had to leave behind the swimsuit that hold a lot of memories for her, how they went into the camp as teenagers but came out looking 100 years older, how they had to survive without their loved ones with them, how horrific it was when the American soldiers saw the corpses and dead bodies of people packed into a train cabin… and this is shown in “The Band of Brothers”… Hitler could be one of the best dictators in the world, but he’s also the worst villain and the cruelest human ever stepped into this earth… the movie also showed Hitler’s will to continue the war against Jews… my question especially to those who studied History, if they know that is: What has the Jews done to make Hitler to hate them so much? I remember in the movie “Seven Years in Tibet”, the soldier said, “Religion is poison”… but I couldn’t relate the two together… because if that’s what Hitler might be thinking, then why didn’t he do the same to Christians and Catholics and other religions? Why Jews? I am not Jewish… I am Muslim but Jews are still humans like me… they just believe differently… I believe in my God, they believe in theirs… nothing wrong about that… well, there are many questions that are unanswered… I believe Hitler was not born evil… no babies or young children are born evil in this world… I believe something must have happened for him to be who he was and do what he did…
There were three news about abused children… one in Malaysia, another two in our homeland, Singapore… in Malaysia, a 2-year-old baby girl was sexually-abused and killed… who is the suspect? Unbelievably, the mother! Yes, the mother could be the one who forcedly inserted sharp object into her body… beat her and pulled her ears… what has the child done? She’s a 2-year-old kid, for goodness’ sake! What has an innocent child do? Another child abuse at home… Alex was abused by his mother’s lover… in the end, he died… and he’s just 7 years old… a few days or months after that, I think, it would be his eighth birthday… reporters were told that he was an obedient boy… so what makes the mother’s lover to do such a cruel thing to a kid? He’s too young to die… he has a bright future ahead of him… but I guess, it’s better for him to die now rather than later for he would have to go through hell again… all because his low-IQ mother met the wrong man and afraid to break the relationship up… I understand that she did all she could to try to protect her children… but if I were in her shoes, I would rather let the man kill me than kill my flesh-and-blood son… then, there’s another news about another mother who slashed her son for not doing his homework than claimed that she loves him… fine, her son didn’t do homework… but slashing your son is not the way to punish your son… you can scold him… beat his hand… threaten to not let him play or watch TV… but not slashing him with a knife… for goodness’ sake, she could kill him…
And recently, I read a novel by Michael Connelly called “Lost Light”… the story is generally about a murder… however, the author somehow could squeeze in about power being wrongly used by the law enforcers, themselves… he wrote of how 2 FBI agents torture a practically-dead man – meaning, the man, who was a policeman, was paralyzed from neck downwards and depended on a machine to live… one of the agents crimped the tubes closed with his fingers, cutting off the air supply, leaving the victim gasping for air… in the end, the victim cried… I cried too, imagining the whole thing happening… although this does not really happen… abuse of power by law enforcers are already made known publicly before the last time about White policemen hitting a Black man using those sticks that policemen have – I have no idea what it’s called… and recently, the issue that rocked the whole world about US soldiers in Iraq…
However, I do agree that without all the violence and hatred that’s happening in this world, there will be no sympathy and compassion, without them, there’s no love… I end this topic with the song “Where Is The Love?”
What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama, only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism but we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race, then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Badness is what you demonstrate and that's exactly how anger works and operates
Nigga, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate, let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all
People killin', people dyin', children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach and would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us, send us some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin' where is the love
It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong, why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs, chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With the ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
In makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Phew… the topic is quite heavy, don’t you think? Anyway, I caught the movie “Troy” on Tuesday with my best friend… and, as always, in Cineleisure, it’s fully packed… luckily the guy at the counter gave us seats that were not so front nor too back… now, I know why Jean Danker gave the movie a full rating… it rightfully deserves the full rating… it was a great, excellent, exciting movie and possibly the best movie of the year… if you are still contemplating on watching the movie, don’t hesitate anymore… watch before it’s too late… if not you’ll regret it… it’s worth your $6.50… believe me, it’s great! It has a little humour, and you will find out how damn smart the Greeks and Trojans were… I actually cried too, you know… it’s a little sad also… so I don’t wanna spoil the ending or the plot… so if you are wondering whether it’s worth the full rating and your money, go and watch it! It’s for all of us… if you like romance, “Troy” has lots of romance, if you like comedy, it has a little comic relief, mostly from Brad Pitt’s character, Achilles, if you like action, it has lots of action… so watch it, people! And here for you, some of the memorable quotes from the movie itself:
Achilles: Perhaps your brother can comfort them. I hear he’s good at charming other men’s wives.
***
Achilles: Imagine a king who fights his own battles. Wouldn’t that be a sight?
Agamemnon: Of all the warlords loved by the gods, I hate him the most.
***
Briseis: I thought you were a dumb brute. I could have forgiven a dumb brute!
***
Hector: Sometimes the gods bless you in the morning and curse you in the afternoon.
***
And the very popular…
Achilles: Is there no one else? Is there no one else?
So till next week! Ta-ta!
PS: Liverpool got to the fourth place and qualified for next season’s Champions League! And the Americans have done me proud by voting Jasmine Trias out of American Idol. Therefore, leaving Fantasia and Diana to battle it out in the finale! Watch it ya! Oh and yeah, I LOVE AMERICAN IDOL!!!
